Miscellaneous

Today’s post is a bit scattered – just odds and ends. Next week, I’ll cover my final post (for now) on editing.

First, a brief explanation about the website for people who are new to the post. Last September, when I discovered I had received a publishing contract for my debut novel, I realized there were parts of the publishing world that were a complete mystery to me. Shortly after I signed my book contract, I started a blog to detail the ins-and-outs of publishing as I experience them with my first book. I hope the site gives writers who are intent on publication a chance to plan ahead for things I knew nothing about. There have been some big surprises this past year, and in all honesty, almost all of them have been positive. I’ve had so many wonderful people help me reach this point that I hope I can pay it forward in some small way through this website.

For readers who have been with me for a while, I have some good news. In July I will be launching a new website and blog. This blog has given me the chance to discover the joys and difficulties of blogging each week. I’m now ready to commit to something more professional. The website will be devoted to the book and the world surrounding the fictional ‘territory.’ The new blog will be similar to this one in content – but the design will make it much easier for readers to access previous information. I’m really excited about moving forward.

And, finally, some exciting news. I received notice that my book is available for pre-order on the MacMillan/St. Martins website. As I was checking out the information I also discovered it is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc. I don’t think I can explain how exciting and how surreal it was to search Amazon and have a book come up with my name on it. It is a twenty year dream with hundreds of hours of work put into it and I couldn’t be any happier! If you would like to take a look at the book, or pre-order a copy, just go to www.amazon.com and type in my name, Tricia Fields.

I post every Sunday about a variety of topics related to publishing, but my main focus is the craft of writing. I’d love to read your feedback. I hope you’ll post and introduce yourself!
